This Old Song

this song will end no man awaits me there.

and if there is no sea, no ship can set me free.

The way is short, the course reduced

And so, what?

Another week, Another month, Another year?

after my death there will still be something in the world.

someone will love someone, either way.

The way is short, the tab unpaid.

And, so what?

Another week, Another month, Another year?

fresh dew and the evening chill beset my face

in pale light, the next crossroads appear the same.

Tomorrow I’ll wake up and open my eyes –

Good God,

Another week, Another month, Another year.

at the next crossroads, the station seems the same.

Tomorrow I'll wake up and open my eyes –

Good God,

Another week, Another month, Another year
